Traveling to Scotland—Visa Requirements
It is possible that registered attendees (and their guests, if applicable) will need a visa to visit Scotland. Learn more about visa requirements from the UK Government. If you need to apply for a visa to attend the Congress, you are advised to apply for your visa as soon as possible. All applicants must be able to qualify for a visa on their own merits. The society cannot intervene with embassies in other countries on behalf of any meeting participants.
Once registration is open for the 2019 IS-MPMI XVIII Congress, we encourage you to register early. Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to download and print your invitation letter. You may submit this letter with your visa application to verify the name, dates, location, and purpose of the Congress. You may also take your registration confirmation paperwork to your visa interview
Delegates from some countries may require a bespoke letter of invitation that includes their personal details. If you require such a letter please send an email to John Jones with the following information: Full name (as on your passport), Passport number, Passport expiry date, Passport issuing country, date of birth. Once this information is received, we will check that you are registered for the meeting and, if so, will send a personalized letter signed by the congress organizer.
Delegates from within the EU
The UK government has announced plans for travel to the UK for EU nationals that will apply even in the event of a no-deal (i.e. hard) Brexit. Visas will not be required for any EU national wishing to enter the UK for less than 3 months. Click here for more details.
