Diverse Backgrounds, Common Interests
The International Society for Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions (IS-MPMI) is comprised of members from more than 40 countries who research molecular aspects of microorganisms interacting with plants and the consequences of such interactions.
IS-MPMI is an inclusive society, where membership connects you with a network of researchers who investigate different aspects of plant immunity, pathogen virulence mechanisms, effector biology, symbiotic interactions, communication between host and microbes, microbiome studies as well as plants/pathogens’ molecular genetics and genomics. Being a member helps you build professional relationships and enables you to benefit from and participate in the Society’s activities and initiatives such as Webinars and Congresses.
Engage with leading colleagues in your field and become an IS-MPMI Member today!
Mission
Support and promote membership achievement by providing platforms for communication of new discoveries, opportunities for professional networking on a global scale, channels for outreach to public and policy makers, and resources for educating and mentoring young scientists to ensure continued advances in our understanding of plant-microbe interactions.
Vision
IS-MPMI will embody a diverse, engaged, international community of scientists, educators, and other stakeholders to create and share foundational knowledge in plant-microbe interactions toward greater understanding, appreciation, and sustainable use of plants and the environments in which they grow.

The IS-MPMI Board of Directors provides the overall policy and strategic direction of the Society and works year-round to support its members and advance the field of molecular plant-microbe interactions. In practice, this includes overseeing the planning of the biennial Congress and other Society events, reviewing policies, supporting fundraising and strategic initiatives, and helping guide membership, publications, and financial matters. The Board includes elected and appointed members who bring perspectives from leadership, publishing, and early-career scientists, and it meets at least once a month for 1 hour and 30 minutes to ensure the Society remains active, responsive, and forward-looking. All board members do these activities on a volunteer basis and do not receive compensation.
