Jacqueline Monaghan is the Canada Research Chair in Plant Immunology and an Associate Professor in the Biology Department at Queen’s University in Canada. She earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto, where she had the good fortune of working with Robin Cameron who introduced her to the wonderful world of MPMI. She later conducted her PhD at the Michael Smith Laboratories and the Department of Botany at the University of British Columbia, working with Xin Li. During that time she developed a deep interest in pattern-triggered immunity, which brought her to The Sainsbury Laboratory in Norwich England to conduct postdoctoral work with Cyril Zipel. Her lab focuses on mechanisms of signal transduction, with a special interest in kinase-mediated signaling.
